Strategic and Technical Advisory Group of Experts for Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent health and nutrition (STAGE)

The Strategic and Technical Advisory Group of Experts (STAGE) for Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health and Nutrition (MNCAHN) was established by the Director-General of the World Health Organization in 2019 to provide guidance on the work of WHO. STAGE will provide strategic and technical advice to WHO on matters relating to maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health and nutrition and will advise WHO on global priorities and emerging issues for which policies, strategies, recommendations and intervention packages should be developed or updated, with a view to helping Member States in reaching relevant Sustainable Development Goal targets. Purpose of the Working Group for WHO recommended Maternal and Newborn Health Innovation and Commodities The working group will prioritize life-saving maternal and newborn health commodities and will guide the development of an implementation strategy for scaling up across different country contexts as part of strengthening health systems in line with WHO recommendations. Purpose of the Working Group for midwifery models of care To provide technical, strategic, programmatic, and scientific considerations in developing WHO implementation guidance to support countries that are transitioning to collaborative midwifery models of care (MMoC). Purpose of the Working Group for child and adolescent well-being To advise WHO and the interdepartmental working group for the child health redesign on policies, interventions, and services to optimize child and adolescent healthy growth and development and well-being, and their programmatic implementation. The STAGE working group will be composed of experts acting in their individual capacity and will include both STAGE and selected experts that are not members of the STAGE.
